All sessions are conducted through telehealth.

During your first session with RCC-Psalm 23, expect to be greeted with warmth and respect. The therapist will introduce themselves and share some background information regarding themselves.

  1. The therapist will review you the session expectations going forward and the limits of confidentiality.
  2. Together, you and the therapist will review your completed paperwork.
  3. The therapist will begin the process of completing a biopsychosocial-spiritual assessment, which can take as long as 90 minutes.
  4. Formulating the diagnosis (review and discuss the results of the assessment and the diagnosis, which is needed for developing the treatment plan, and for insurance purposes).
  5. You and the therapist together, will develop your individualized treatment plan, which will include the problem (reason for seeking therapy), your expected goal(s) for therapy (what you would like to achieve), the objectives (what strategies or techniques will be applied in achieving your goal), and the interventions (what therapeutic approaches will be utilized doing your therapy sessions).
  6. This will conclude your first session, and the therapist will ask your permission to end the session in a word of prayer. Afterwards, you will have an opportunity to schedule your next session.

Second and Subsequent Sessions:

During your second and all subsequent sessions with RCC-Psalm 23, expect to be greeted with warmth and respect, and each session will last approximately 50 minutes. All sessions between you and the therapist are collaborative and questions, input, feedback, and reflections are encouraged and expected throughout the sessions.

  1. Check-in since the last session.
  2. Review your treatment plan and make any needed revisions (you will receive a copy of your plan for your records, and to assist with charting your course of therapy).
  3. Reflection and discussion (talk therapy) of what brought you to therapy, the process of therapy, and the progress you are making.
  4. Homework or practice assignments (yes 😊, there are frequent homework or practice assignments to assist with the therapy process).
  5. This will conclude your second session, and you can expect all sequential sessions to follow this pattern. The therapist will ask your permission to end the session in a word of prayer, and afterwards, you will have an opportunity to schedule your next session.
